5 Steps to Summer Ready Feet

5 Steps to Summer Ready Feet

It's getting close to sandal wearing weather again. Nows the time to get your feet ready for their 2021 unveiling.  For most of us this will take a bit of preparation! It's also going to be a little bit more challenging since all our favourite salons are still under a tight lockdown. But fear not, with a little effort, you can do a DIY job to get them ready for summer.

1. Soak

Soaking your feet brings many benefits, including soothing tired muscles, aids relaxation and most importantly it softens dry skin.

Soak your feet in a bath, basin or foot spa for at least 10 minutes. You can use your favourite shop bought foot soak or try a homemade mix. For dry feet, try adding some coconut oil to the water before you submerge your feet.

2. Exfoliate

When you're done soaking, it's time to exfoliate and remove any dry skin.  A pumice or foot brush is your pal here.  Start by removing your feet from the water and pat dry.  Take your pumice or foot brush and gently run it over the problem areas on your feet until the hard skin has been removed.

You can also choose to use an exfoliant.  For a home made option try mixing some olive oil with sugar and firmly massage your feet for a minute or two. Once done rinse and pat dry.

3. Mask

Masks are great for your face and your feet.  Your local pharmacy or health and beauty shop are sure to have a selection of these for you to choose from.  Opt for a moisturisng foot mask or make your own at home.  Peel and blend a cucumber and mix with some honey, apply to feet and allow to sit for 15 minutes.  Rinse the mixture off with warm water and pat dry.

4. Moisturise

Now its time to moisturise.  You can use whatever you have to hand such as a body lotion or even a hand cream.  You don't need specific cream for your feet.  Our fave is shea butter as its rich and creamy and smells delicious.  Allow your feet to absorb the moisturiser for a few minutes before you put on socks or slippers.

5. Prep and Paint

To complete your summer feet, let's tackle those nails! Using a nail file, shape each toe nail to the desired shape. Next use a cuticle pusher to get your cuticles under control.  Use a cuticle cutter to remove any excess. Next apply a little drop of cuticle oil to the base of each nail and gently massage in. Apply a base coat of nail polish and allow to dry before applying your chosen nail colour.

Now it's time to showcase your summer ready feet in a brand new pair of Lush Rage sandals or wedges! You can view our new spring/summer collection by clicking the below image.
